The past three years of the pandemic presented major adjustments to how we conducted our daily lives. The youth were among the most vulnerable to the pandemic’s effects as they missed opportunities to learn and connect with their peers, which are crucial to their development.
Personally, this segment of the society – the youth, is very close to my heart. It’s the stage we do not want to miss to nurture and to care for, but what are we doing to be part of their growth. How then do we prepare ourselves to reach out to today’s youth in an ever-changing world?
As our lives are settling into a new rhythm, some social-emotional challenges may remain with the youth in our families, schools, and communities.
We Thrive, a mental health clinic and consultancy based in Manila, aims to open an important conversation on promoting the youth’s mental health. They are hosting an online event entitled READY, SET, GO! Building Emotional Resilience with the Youth, School, and Families, which seeks to equip parents, educators, counselors, and mental health advocates in supporting the youth, hence readying them for life’s challenges.
The event will feature Ms. Techie Dy (PhD. Cand.), a family mental health therapist who will be sharing her expertise in navigating the youth’s social-emotional challenges. She will share insights on how essential skills such as mindfulness, self-regulation, and relationship-building can greatly impact the youth’s wellbeing, as well as ours. Guests can also expect an enriching learning experience through fun, engaging activities.
The event takes place on May 5, 3:00 – 4:00 P.M. via Zoom. Registration is FREE. To sign up, simply click on this link or scan the QR code provided.
